Rowdy Rathore

Action film fans, rejoice, Akshay is back with a vengeance with UTV Motion Pictures Rowdy Rathore. This is his deadliest performance to date. The film rides on Akhsay Kumar's star power. Can he do full justice to the action genre after giving us so many hit comedy films?

Shiva (Akshay Kumar) is a small time conman in love with Priya (Sonakshi Sinha), a pretty girl whom he met at a wedding he wasn’t invited to. Into this picture perfect world enters six year old Neha who inexplicably believes Shiva to be her dad! And if this wasn’t bad enough, Shiva also becomes the object of a series of life threatening attacks by a gang of deadly criminals who seem to know something he doesn’t. While trying desperately to save his life and love, Shiva stumbles upon a deadly secret. A secret that will take him to a small town in Bihar; a town terrorized by a ruthless politician and the mafia he controls; a town whose inhabitants only hope for redemption is…Shiva!

The music of the film is given by Sajid-Wajid, The sound track has 'Chinta ta ta' that is just an ok song, with the added bonus of Kareena Kapoor, Vijay and Prabu Deva making guest appearances. 'Chammak Challo Chel Chabel' works as a romantic song. The title song 'Aa re Pritam Pyaare' is  the 'rowdiest song of the year'. 'Tera ishq bada teekha' is the perfect song for some nostalgia. 'Dhadang dhang dhang' is very disappointing and 'Chandaniya' and the title track 'Rowdy Mix' are both good songs. The soundtrack falls short of tall expectations.

The director Prabhu Dheva again  serves a hardcore masala fare, that has
every action/stunt/chase choreographed with the same intensity. He succeeds big time in giving us a distraction away from candyfloss movies and diabetic-sweet characters that most Hindi movies boast of. The film takes you back to those days when popular cinema reigned supreme, when the sole motive of the film-maker was to entertain.

Akshay  is like the 1980s muscle bound action heroes from Hollywood, move over Sly, Schwarzenegger and Van Damme, our desi action hero roars with all his might. The film belongs to the actor, who blazes the screen every time he is on the screen.. He gives the power to the film and It's his best work to date. Sonakshi is very beautiful in the role she essays and the pairing with Akshay looks wonderful. The desi role in the film suits her.

If like me you liked the crazy action of Kung Fu Hustle, all those testosterone fuelled films of Stallone /Schwarzenegger, and all those cult John Woo films, then this film is for you! All that crazy action and our desi Kung Fu king firing on all cylinders.

For all those action junkies and action man Akhshay lovers out there go watch and be entertained . Crash , bang , wallop what a humdinger of a film!!!!!

A power packed full entertainment masala film.

Verdict: 4/5.
